Obama to Iran: Some Change We Believed In

With the Iranian holiday of Nowruz, President Obama sent a video message to the Islamic Republic of Iran calling for greater diplomatic ties.

Here's a transcript of the speech.

These issues were not directly mentioned by Mr Obama but this is what he is referring to:

# Iran to give up uranium enrichment and accept international offers to provide fuel for nuclear power

* Iran to stop arming Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza
* Iran to help in achieving peace in Afghanistan and Iraq
* Iran to stop threatening Israel.

Iran will want the following:

* Acceptance of its right to enrich uranium
* An end to UN sanctions
* An end to US sanctions
* An end to America's "colonialist attitudes".
- BBC.

Obama's plan in the long term will be to create peace, which is something that everyone desires for that region. To do so he is trying to relieve some stress that has built up since 1979.

The Iranian government has so far been silent on Obama's message to the Iranian people.

The EU is currently praising Obama for being the American President they dreamed of.

[Just a side joke]
¡Sí se puede! means "yes we can"

Si se puede means "if we can"
